AV@Sea, the third of four e-commerce sites by Multicom, was launched mid November. It was promoted and up for all to browse at the 2006 Workboat show. In lieu of the fact that the most popular attraction in the booth was the fun photo screen that would transpose your image onto a scene on Bourbon Street or various other fun spots, the show helped spark interest in the site and the feedback thus far has been great!
AV@Sea is the communications and audio/video store for passenger vessels, workboats, and high end yachts. It is a great source for ordering parts and equipment FAST and/or obtaining information on various Multicom systems.
AV@Sea offers:
- Marine-tested products for your vessel
- Single-source for regulatory approved systems (PA/GA, etc)
- 24/7 technical support
- Delivery to any port in the world
- Over 30 years of experience

Multicom has introduced their line of PCX Digital Telephones Phones made more durable specifically for maritime vessels- withough moving parts in the switch found in other switches that can eventually wear out.
The Multicom PCX is also the first digital switch to employ flash memory for it's programming and settings, allowing for the roughest of weather and seas, without fear of harming the hard drive.
The Multicom PCX phone system also uses simple analog telephones for each interior and weather station which allows for ease of replacement anywhere in the world. The PCX does'nt require expensive proprietary telephone sets that have to be ordered and shipped ˆ Replacement can be done from almost any port in the world at a low cost.
Multicom PCX systems offer all the advantages of digital telephone sets, including satellite interface, cellular interface, least cost routing, voice mail, and emergency interrupt. Phones can be easily reprogrammed from the main switch or any computer onboard to allow for changes. Special hotel software is available for overnight
Vessels and passenger ships with cabins. Cost accounting is also available with interface to both satellite, cellular and landline connections.

Multicom has two new additions to its ICS line of interior communication systems- METS I and the METS II systems of emergency telephone systems. METS is an approved alternative to the more costly sound powered phone systems required on most vessels, but has several advantages over the older sound powered designs including lower cost and greater clarity for better communication.
METS does double duty as emergency telephone as well as normal ships phone during ops normal. METS also can connect directly to cellular or satellite phone for increased safety in emergencies, so you can immediately contact help in any emergency.
The METS I acts as a ruggedized telephone system during ops normal, with all the features and functions of a Multicom PCX telephone system. In emergency situations, the METS I will automatically convert to a fully approved emergency communication system with common talk channels.
METS II is similar, except during ops normal it acts as a multi channel intercom system for your vessel. |
