Approved for emergency communications on all vessels instead of expensive
sound powered telephones.
METS I - Emergency Telephones with two common talk lines with paging access
The METS I design is based on an intercom style phone system with two common
talk lines and vessel paging access. The METS I will double as a simple telephone
or private intercom system for standard shipboard communication during ops
normal as well as for all emergency communications whenever necessary.
All telephones at all locations within a METS I will function for both standard
communication stations for daily activities during ops normal, or during emergency
situations, all METS I telephones immediately function as emergency communication
stations. It is also possible to add a dedicated private communication line
between high traffic areas such as the pilot house and the engine room. General
Alarm may be added to the METS I system with alarm activation contactors at
one or more METS stations. This will provide a complete ops normal plus emergency
communications and alarm system.
Benefits
- Can be used as ships intercom system during ops normal.
- One and two line METS phones can be used within the same system for additional
